Compute and managed storage — physical, virtual, or cloud.
A Compass Vault is the compute plus Accelerator-managed storage that protects a system. Deploy it as a physical appliance, a virtual machine, or in the cloud — the same platform, sized to each site — with immutable, Zero Access® data by design.
What is a Compass Vault? A Compass Vault is the combination of compute and Compass Accelerator-managed storage that protects a system. Compass Vaults are deployable as a physical appliance, a virtual machine, or in the cloud.
- Runs a Compass Accelerator — the engine that delivers the Compass platform and manages its protected storage
- Available physical, virtual, or cloud — sized to each site's bandwidth, connectivity, and data volumes
- Writes immutable, Zero Access® data by design — with no access to the backup environment
- Can switch into Isolated Vault Services™ — a network-isolated, clean-room mode for recovering systems, applications, and data after a cyber event or disaster
Physical, virtual, or cloud
A Compass Vault takes the form that fits the site — the same Compass platform and protection either way.
On-premises Accelerator
A physical appliance for sites with limited bandwidth, unreliable connectivity, or large data volumes that are impractical to move to the cloud.
Virtual Accelerator
A virtual Accelerator running in your existing hypervisor — protection without dedicated hardware to deploy or refresh.
Cloud-hosted Compass Vault
A Compass Vault running in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or IBM Cloud — protection where your workloads already run.
A clean room for your worst day
Every Compass Vault stores immutable data with no access to the backup environment. Isolated Vault Services lets a Compass Vault toggle from normal backup operations into a completely network-isolated recovery mode — a clean room, disconnected from the internet, for validating and recovering data after a cyber event or disaster.
- All backup data vaulted and immutable by design — Zero Access®
- Toggle any Accelerator into a fully network-isolated vault mode
- Recover systems, applications, and data in a clean room, disconnected from the internet
- Menu-driven, or orchestrated through the Compass REST API
- Included for all Compass users — no additional cost
Three states, one Compass Vault
1. Protect
Every Compass Vault writes immutable, Zero Access® data on ingest — with no access path into the backup environment.
2. Isolate
On demand, the Accelerator toggles from normal backup into a network-isolated vault mode — sealed off from production and the internet.
3. Recover
Restore and validate systems, applications, and data in the clean room via menu or REST API, then return to normal operations when it's safe.
Cyber resilience and compliance, together
Isolated recovery isn't just good practice — it's increasingly what regulators and cyber-insurers expect. A Compass Vault gives you a demonstrable clean-room recovery capability without a second infrastructure to build.
- Ransomware and cyber-attack recovery in a trusted environment
- Declared-disaster recovery with isolated validation
- Evidence for audit, compliance, and cyber-insurance requirements
- Repeatable recovery drills without production risk
