The Cobalt Iron Story
Our founder, Richard Spurlock, spent two decades consulting with enterprise teams at some of the largest companies in the world, fixing their infrastructure, and mapping a path to success. It became clear that the problem went beyond properly architecting and deploying products into operational solutions. Operational complexities, management challenges of backup products, and the constantly changing technology environment was overwhelming customers. After some time, a customer’s backup environments became stale, under-invested, and fragile, leading to increased failures and uncertain recovery for enterprises.
After seeing the repeated failures, high costs, increasing product complexities, spiraling data growth, and the growing needs to protect data beyond basic backup and restore, Spurlock set out to develop a solution that would solve the challenges and complexity through technology instead of people. A completely new platform was built with complex enterprise environments in mind. With a passionate focus on delivering this transformational product to the global enterprise backup market, Cobalt Iron was born.
